'Woven Landscapes', Photography and Mixed Media Collage, 'The Clockroom Gallery', Queenstown New Zealand
My work explores the beauty of New Zealand some of the most amazing landscapes that impress in your memory and are a challenge to explore. These works reflect times inspired by walking and discovering the various mountains, coves, grottos, rainforests, and waterways of this land. I have always had a camera to capture time and place hence the series of photographic landscapes reflecting how they weave their way into your soul. Working with collage using different natural fibres the technique allows me to weave together layers of time, space and meaning; creating transparent landscapes of memories from past journeys in the land.
Tearing paper allowing the fibres to rip and move in its natural line. The paper edges respond to how the earth has been worn. Living in a constant flux, moving in random shapes and forever changing. Stitching up the surface, repairing and renewal Transparencies and reflections in ice and snow
